Dining at the Stein

The shores and seas around Skye abound with marine life, whilst the land supports sheep grazed on sweet heather, wild venison and the renowned highland cattle. The finest and freshest produce is readily available and is transformed at the Stein Inn into mouth-watering, home-cooked dishes.

Diners can take advantage of eating in the non-smoking dining room, or eat in the bar. Whether choosing a bar snack, light lunch or a full three-course evening meal, the emphasis is on good, wholesome food at affordable prices.

All meals are freshly prepared to order with a menu that changes daily in accordance with the season's availability. We believe in using the freshest of local produce Skye and Lochalsh has to offer, when available, and in regard to this we have been highly commended by Taste of Skye and Lochalsh, a local food link group, for the last two years. Temptations for the palette from the evening menu may include the following starters:

  • Fresh West Coast Mussels Merniere
  • Three Varieties of Mushrooms Pan Fried with Garlic
  • Skye Scallops in Oatmeal
  • Camembert in Cranberry Sauce

And some of the main courses which may be available, available as well as vegetarian meals and a children's menu:

  • Highland Venison Pie
  • Scottish Salmon with Vermouth and Tarragon Sauce
  • Steak braised in Skye Ale
  • Pork Chop with Walnut and Achmore Blue Cheese Butter
  • Breast of Duck with Garlic Cider Cream Sauce
  • Bean and Nut Patties with Angus' Plum Chutney
